Hands of Hope Resources Needed

Young women who escape a trafficking situation are often without some of the most basic necessities, such as hygiene items, food, and water. Often they were not allowed to eat a meal that day until they had brought their pimp the required amount of money. To meet these immediate needs, Hands of Hope provides Resource Bags to the Portland Police’s anti-trafficking task force.

YOU can make a difference in the life of a survivor!

Currently they have a huge need for the items pictured above, and listed at the end of this article. This is a tangible way that anyone can get invovled in bringing the first stage of hope and healing to a survivor who may have gone her whole life believing that she’s not worth much to anyone. Our police forces are also doing amazing work in the city of Portland, and we want to support and encourage them, coming alongside them to do what they cannot for these precious women. Will you consider joining with us?

Our biggest needs are:

  • 3-packs of (2 oz.) shampoo, lotion, and body wash (can be found at Dollar Tree stores or ordered online, where it will be shipped to your local Dollar Tree for free)
  • Small packs of tissues
  • Toothbrushes
  • Toothpaste
  • Women’s deoderant
  • Chapstick
  • Tampons

Hands of Hope Resources also collects new clothing, undergarments, and small gift cards to stores such as Target or Fred Meyer to provide for the needs of other survivors. Not only do we work with the Portland Police, but we also partner with:

  • Partners of Bridging the Gap Network
  • SARC (Sexual Assault Resource Center)
  • Victory Outreach–Gresham
  • District Attorney Victims Advocates
  • And other local resource closets that works with women coming out of the sex industry

Please email [email protected] if you are interested in setting up a resource drive, or arranging a time to drop off donated items. Thank you!!
