The Mentoring Project

About the Organization

The Mentoring Project (TMProject) exists to recruit, train, resource, and advocate for mentors so that we can rewrite the fatherless story through mentoring. TMProject is an advocacy and training organization that serves as a liaison between faith communities and matching agencies to provide mentors for fatherless youth.

In keeping with its mission, TMProject establishes relationships with local and national faith communities, partner organizations, and matching agencies to facilitate the creation of sustainable mentoring communities. In a limited number of communities, The Mentoring Project serves as a matching agency. The Mentoring Project’s model assists faith communities to establish sustainable mentoring communities that will provide mentors for the children waiting to be mentored.

TMProject’s goal is to match a mentor with each fatherless child wishing and waiting for a mentor. TMProject plans to accomplish this goal by recruiting, training and resourcing mentors from faith communities. By focusing on gospel-based mentoring, we believe that the American church could almost completely shut down juvenile detention centers, end school dropouts, curb youth suicide, prevent sex trafficking of children and reduce homelessness for a large number of boys and girls affected by the fatherless epidemic.

We also have a toolkit for purchase that allows you to be a great mentor. Our Mentor Toolkit has been used in over 400 communities all across the world, and it will equip you for your mentoring journey. It includes a comprehensive Mentor Field Guide, as well as a three mentor training videos, a copy of Dr. John Sowers book, Fatherless Generation: Redeeming the Story, a TMP t-shirt and other great resources. The Mentor Toolkit is designed to be used as a one-hour video training or a three-week small group study.
