About the Organization
Oregonians Against the Trafficking of Humans (OATH) is a statewide campaign that promotes public awareness regarding the realities of human trafficking within the state of Oregon. It provides training and education to Oregon citizens, coordinates victim resources, investigates trafficking cases to assist in the aggressive prosecution of human traffickers within Oregon and attempts to quantify, for statistical research, the scope of human trafficking that exists within the state of Oregon.
“Take the Oath” is quick 4 step oath that can be taken online at www.oregonoath.org. This entails reading and understanding the visible traits common to victims of human trafficking, writing down and keeping available the hotline number for reporting potential trafficked victims, sharing the OATH website with other Oregonians and registering concern over human trafficking with Oregon authorities and state representatives.
How You Can Help
Take the Oath. Support and advocate for increased oversight with Portland’s urban sex industry and rural migrant camps. Support stricter legislation and programs that would discourage the commercial sex industry. Raise awareness by sending letters to The Oregonian and other media. Hold an anti- human trafficking fund-raiser and invite the media. Keep yourself informed. Ask to be put on the OATH event and awareness distribution list: [email protected].
