About the Organization
Child victims of abuse and neglect are often more vulnerable to being re-victimized, making children residing in foster care more at risk of being sexually exploited by others. There are over 8,000 Oregon kids living in foster care today. At times, foster children run away and are often picked up by law enforcement, if found. As a runaway, a child’s vulnerability increases to outside dangers such exposure to the outside elements, unstable housing, such as having to trade sexual favors for food, shelter, protection, drugs and/or money, etc.
How You Can Help
Consider becoming an adoptive or foster parent. If you are not able to consider being a foster or adoptive family for a child, please consider being a respite care provider. The following agencies, among others, offer opportunities for individuals and families to provide short-term care for at-risk children. Please contact them directly to learn more.
