AN EXAMINATION OF SLAVERY: PAST TO PRESENT

A Community Event Led by Youth Ending Slavery

Oftentimes slavery is simply misconstrued as a crime of the past, an atrocity that was outlawed a little over 150 years ago. This important, but limited, interpretation threatens our ability to address present forms of exploitation.

Youth Ending Slavery (YES), an entirely youth-led group dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking, is organizing this very conversation. An “Examination of Slavery: Past to Present” will include a museum-style display, a lecture, and question and answers. Keynote speakers Dr. Christopher Carey, Associate Professor, Community Health -Urban & Public Affairs, Portland State University and Margot Minardi, Associate Professor of History and Humanities, Reed College, will share their insights.

This event is free and open to the public. Please visit www.youthendingslavery.org to secure your space.
