Rahab’s Sisters Volunteer Training

training night 1.jpg

To mark the launch of their new foot clinic & spa, Rahab’s Sisters is holding a training on Tuesday, November 10th.  The focus is on further equipping volunteers in expressions of radical hospitality with guests.

This event will feature an expert panel including a trauma-informed counselor, police officer from the local sex-trafficking unit, and registered nurse who runs a foot clinic.  They will be sharing their insights and experiences from their work with high-risk populations.  We’ll begin with learning more about the context and experience of the women who come as guests and then lead into applying practical tips for safe, compassionate, mindful engagement.  The end of the evening is dedicated to learning the first aid skills to run the foot clinic and spa (safety, hygiene & assessment), where Sean Meehan, RN (Director of Nightwatch’s foot clinic) will train on this specifically with interested volunteers.

This training is designed for volunteers at Rahab’s Sisters but the invitation is open and extended into the community of advocates who want to listen in and learn along, too.  With the desire for more collaboration, creativity and compassion to grow among us all, come & invite a friend!

(Yes, guys are invited; no, this material is not appropriate for young children; yes, there will be chocolate!) Bring a pair or pack of socks to donate! We’ll provide some light desserts and beverages along with materials for you to take notes. We hope to see you there!
