Celebrating His Miracles at the House of Engedi Grand Opening
Last August, we highlighted several wonderful ministries who were working to create loving, safe homes for victimized women to heal, rebuild, and restore. Since then, God has opened the doors for one of these ministries to have a fully-built and functioning safe house in place. We are so excited for the House of Engedi and all of the wonderful miracles God is going to do through its staff and volunteers. Here is a snippet from Josh Armentano on their recent Grand Opening:
On Saturday, June 7th, many of our supporters gathered together to celebrate the opening of our first safe house for adult survivors of sex trafficking. This was a great testimony to what God is doing to bring people together from all over our state to establish this much-needed home. Without the help of so many different people, churches, and organizations, this day would not have been possible. In all, we counted over 20 local churches represented at the event!
The festivities started with a moving rendition of “All the Poor and Powerless” by the super-talented worship band from The Branch. We then recognized all the volunteers and supporters that made this day possible, and heard from our founder, Jennifer Unangst, as she shared her own story of hope and restoration.
We then had the privilege to hear from local advocate Joel Shapiro, Attorney and Policy Advisor for Shared Hope International, and our very own House Director, Liz Alston, about the current landscape of sex trafficking in our state and what House of Engedi is doing to help change that reality.
We ended the program with another powerful performance of “Beautiful Things” by The Branch worship band and a stirring call to action. We invited everyone in attendance to join us in this great endeavor by writing a word of encouragement to our future residents and taking home a bookmark to remind them to pray for House of Engedi.
With our Respite Care Provider now hired and trained, we are ready to open our doors and begin moving women into our safe house! We already have our first 2 residents scheduled to move in this week. Praise God with us!
We are so thankful to have such talented volunteers and supporters. One of our biggest supporters created this amazing promo video for us. Check it out!
