Make Freedom Real

International Justice Mission

Last year, more than 73,000 Americans joined IJM in calling on President Obama to make the fight against modern-day slavery a priority.

Last fall, President Obama responded to you, delivering the longest Presidential speech on slavery since President Lincoln, in which he called human trafficking "one of the greatest human rights causes of our time," and recommitted the U.S. to leadership in the fight to end slavery for good.

Now is the perfect time to ask President Obama to use his second term to help make freedom real for children and families around the world waiting for rescue. Join us in asking the president to lead on a comprehensive plan to eradicate slavery at home and abroad.

Immediate Resource Need!

LifeWorks NW

Nightly the Prostitution Coordination Team (PCT - Portland Police, LifeWorks NW & the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office) encounters victims of commerical sexual exploitation.  These victims are often hungry and poorly clothed.  Donated gift cards allow the PCT to provide these basic needs and build a relationship with the victim.

Over the holidays we received numerous gift cards, but that supply has now been depleted.  Please consider donating gift cards from local fast food restaurants and stores of any value.

Please mail your donation to:

Officer Gallagher - East Precinct * 737 SE 106th Avenue, Portland OR 97216

Coordinators Needed

    Who To Contact

Freedoms Breath

Freedoms Breath's mission is to expose sex trafficking in the United States by empowering survivors through the display of art.

Freedom's Breath is currently scheduling art events in collaboration with Volviendo, the documentary.  The goals of these art shows and festivals are to empower survivors, create awareness, activate the community, and connect volunteers to organizations in the local community.

Also, community involvement and empowerment are key components in a movement that changes our sexualized culture.  Freedom's Breath will achieve these components with an annual bike ride, rotating through each of the three US circuits (Western, Eastern, and Southern) that traffickers use to exploit people.

We are looking for coordinators for both the art events and bike rides.  We have monthly meetings where you can learn more and get involved.

Department of Community Justice / Law Enforcement

Every day law enforcement officers and advocates meet teens and adults who are being sexually exploited.  As they seek to build a relationship with the exploited person, it is often readily apparent that the person is hungry.  Despite the large amounts of money paid by sexual exploiters, pimps rarely share this money with their victims.  To provide a meal to someone who has been sexually exploited and seeks safety, please donate gift cards to local fast food restaurants.  These cards support law enforcement and advocates who seek to assist victims of sexual exploitation and let people know the community supports efforts to combat sexual exploitation.

Please send your donations to:

Joslyn Baker - Department of Community Justice

501 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Suite 250, Portland, OR 97214
